Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Asian countries. The incidence rates remain relatively low compared to other regions, but the breast cancer incidence rate in Asia is increasing at a more rapid rate than in other regions. There are many differences between breast cancer in Asia compared to other regions in the world, and Komen remains committed to working with and empowering Asian women to become more knowledgeable about their breast health through culturally competent and locally driven interventions.
In the People’s Republic of China, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed type of cancer among women. To address this concerning trend, Komen partnered with GE healthymagination to support a program aimed at raising breast health education and awareness among the people of China.
There are no Komen-supported community health grants currently active in Asia. Please check our website regularly for updates.
