    Basic Function
    The newly created position of Sr. Manager, DC Walk is a key fundraising role in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. Managing 2 direct reports, this person will oversee the strategy, development and implementation of the DC MORE THAN PINK Walk. Additionally, this role is key to prospecting, cultivating, and soliciting sponsors, corporate teams and other key relationships. The Sr. Manager will lead the DC fundraising team in developing a year-round cultivation and engagement strategy for key donors and partners.

    Primary Responsibilities
    • Setting and meeting aggressive fundraising goals for the DC MTPW.
    • Hiring, training and supervising staff.
    • Identify creative ways to motivate and interact with MTPW Team Captains and Walkers to ensure retention year over year.
    • Securing and managing high dollar corporate sponsorships.
    • Ability to keep a large group of participants, volunteers, and staff on track and motivated to reach goals.
    • Expected to meet monthly fundraising goals and recruitment targets.
    • Cross selling other fundraising campaigns in coordination with others.
    • Maintaining an ongoing pipeline of potential sponsors and donors.
    • Adhere to best practices and event timelines and drive accountability in Walk team
    • Establish relationships and communication with key constituents which include top fundraisers, top team captains, sponsors and volunteers.
    • Oversee the MTPW expense and revenue budget.
    • Work cross functionally with DC staff members and other teams to drive strategy of year-round engagement.

    Job Qualifications:

    Minimum Experience Required

     • Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years’ experience in management of special events fundraising or sales.
    • Ability to close face to face sales and sponsorships.
    • Strong volunteer recruitment and management skills and demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service and motivation to business and social leaders.
    • Experience managing a $1 million or more peer to peer fundraising event.
    • Excellent planning, organizational and follow-up skills.
    • Demonstrated professional and mature interaction with other staff and leadership volunteers, sponsors, donors and others to engage them toward the achievement of event goals.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with varying priorities at one time.
    • Extensive knowledge of online communication and fundraising techniques and in-depth understanding of online event management through Blackbaud TeamRaiser.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively speak and present to small to mid size groups. Willingness and ability to travel throughout the market and work evenings and weekends as needed.

    Familiar with the National Capital Region and local non-profit event space.

    Preferred Experience
    • Prefer a candidate with prior national/regional peer fundraising Walk management experience.
    • Direct experience managing Walks over $1 million is also preferred.
    • The ideal candidate is a successful cross-functional team builder with a fundraising focus and strong interpersonal skills.

    Ability to influence, educate, and motivate diverse groups of people.

    Specialized knowledge in the following areas: peer to peer fundraising, event planning, Convio TeamRaiser, development stewardship, performance metrics and operational planning and evaluation.
