Wanna Coker

My name is Wanna D. Coker, and I am a Customer Service Coordinator at DCA. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. Shortly after, I found out that I was positive for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). HER2 is a protein that cancer cells develop on the surface, leading to aggressive cancer cell growth. My cancer is more aggressive and fast growing. I have good days and bad days, but most of the time people wouldn’t expect that I have battled and continue to battle cancer. I believe I was meant to become an advocate for breast cancer because of my hard journey and discovering my own lump after a negative mamogram result. Being vocal help raise awareness and give me the strength that is needed to ‘fight like a girl’ and stand strong as a woman.”
