My name is Toni Oliver and I am a breast cancer survivor. This year I turned 50 and started a new chapter in my life. The beginning of November marks six years that I will be cancer free. Two years ago, after several visits to my doctor for high blood pressure among other issues she referred me to a cardiologist after having severe breathing problems. Thirty minutes after the examination, the cardiologist told me I had a silent heart attack, put in his car and drove me to the emergency room. After being in the hospital for over a week, the doctors told me my heart was damaged by chemotherapy. One third of my heart is damaged for the rest of my life and if I would have delayed my visit to the doctor another week I would have had a massive heart attack and possibly died.
Today I am healthy, happy and loving life.
