In December, 2009 I received my final divorce decree from my husband of 47 years and moved to another town. That was a very stressful and emotional time for me and my family. In May of 2010 I was told I had breast cancer. I had always been very diligent to have a mammogram every year but with all of the upheaval the reminder from my doctor was sent to my old address and I never received it. I had my mammogram and the cancerous cells were found. So began my journey of a lumpectomy, chemo treatments and radiation. About that time I heard a country song on the radio titled A Little Bit Stronger. That song became my mantra throughout all of the long road ahead. I have been a survivor for 7 years now and at the age of 74 my life looks more optimistic and happy now. I thank God every day for my medical team during this experience and for the love and support of my family.
