I was diagnosed 2/24/2015. So many questions ran through my mind. I knew very little about any cancers at the time. Lumpectomy, 2 lymph nodes removed and a powe port insertion on 3/23/2015. The healing from surgery was the easy part. 4/21/2015 Chemotherapy started. My body was not my own anymore. I had allergic reactions to medications, I passed out then vomited in the oncologist office, went to the emergency room twice, I was neutropenic four different times, headaches, bones pain, muscle pain, earaches, neuropathy in hands & feet, thrush, taste changes, constipation, diarrhea, dehydrated & hot flashes like crazy & awake every 2 hours. It was devastating. I shaved my head 12 days after my first treatment. I did fine with that. 6/24/2015 was my last chemo. The swelling, chemo brain and neuropathy were at their worst. I got through it with a lot of support. Radiation started 8/19/2015. A total of 36 sessions. Not too bad. Burnt skin & some blisters. I’m almost a month out of radiation & I feel good. I still have not had a menstrual cycle since May, so I don’t know if I’m going to be in menopause. I’m just trying to live again. You can get through this part of life and move on.
