Zumba® is a dance fitness program that involves dance and aerobic movements and incorporates hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo styles of dance. More than 15 million people take weekly Zumba® classes in 200,000 locations across 180 countries. The program’s community of licensed instructors has raised a combined $5.7 million worldwide for various causes, including breast cancer, through its partnership with Susan G. Komen® by hosting Zumba® classes for a cause, known as Zumbathon® events.
Inspired by breast cancer survivors who relied on their Zumba® classes for physical and emotional support during their fight against the disease, Zumba® launched Party in Pink™ in 2010. Party in Pink™ offers the opportunity for licensed Zumba® instructors to raise funds and awareness to help end breast cancer by hosting a Zumbathon® benefiting Susan G. Komen. Since the inception of the program, Zumba® has raised more than $4.5 million through more than 1,500 Party in Pink™ Zumbathon® events hosted around the globe each year. In 2013, Susan G. Komen announced the extension of its partnership with Zumba®. From July 15, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2017, Zumba® will fund a five-year, $3 million dollar Susan G. Komen Promise Grant through its Party in Pink™ campaign by asking supporters, survivors and Zumba® enthusiasts to make moves in the fight against breast cancer. Did you know that regular exercise reduces your risk of developing breast cancer? Get active! Partyinpink.com is also the place to go to find a Party in Pink™ charity event near you.

Everything about the Zumba experience is personal—from attending your first class; to the relationships that grow between students and their instructors; to the joy, happiness and improved quality of life that dancing brings. And so we've made our Zumba Moves "Party in Pink" for breast cancer mission more personal by focusing on prevention. By working with Susan G. Komen to fund research for a preventative solution, it is our hope that we will be able to touch—and ultimately save—millions of more lives, moving everyone to a happier and healthier world.

The Zumba® Global Research Grant for Breast Cancer Prevention is focused on evaluating SDG, a component of flaxseeds, for the prevention of breast cancer. Evidence shows that SDG blocks the estrogen receptors on cells within breast tissue, starving them of full-strength estrogen, preventing cell damage and possibly stopping tumor growth. This outcome would be most effective in younger, premenopausal women and is particularly exciting for areas across the globe where women are less likely to have access to state-of-the-art screening and treatment facilities. For more information on this Promise Grant and to attend a Party in Pink™ Zumbathon® charity event, visit PartyinPink.com.
Our corporate partners and sponsors are passionate about their involvement with us, engaging their customers, employees and communities in our mission to save lives and end breast cancer.
