  • 2 eggs 

  • 1/2 cup sugar (preferably light brown)

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 

  • 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour 

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt 

  • 1/2 cup dried dates, finely chopped

  • 1 cup nuts, chopped



  • Beat the eggs and then mix in the sugar and vanilla. Blend the dry ingredients together, sift into the egg mixture, and then add the dates and nuts.

  • Grease a 9 x 9 inch pan and spread the mixture into it.�Bake�for 25-30 minutes at 350�F. While still warm, remove from the pan and cut into small squares.
