Baked mozzarella sticks
Ingredients
One 12-ounce package reduced-fat mozzarella string cheese
1 egg
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
8 tablespoons panko (Japanese) bread crumbs
1/2 cup prepared marinara sauce, warmed (optional)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover a baking sheet with foil and coat with cooking spray.
Whisk egg in a small bowl. In a small skillet, combine the Italian seasoning with bread crumbs and cook 5 minutes over medium heat until slightly browned.
Coat a piece of string cheese with the egg mixture, then roll in the toasted bread crumbs. Repeat with remaining string cheese, laying each piece about two inches apart on the baking sheet. Coat pieces with cooking spray.
Bake until heated through, about 5 minutes.
