1 package red kidney beans
1 medium onion, chopped
1 stick butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
Salt
Black pepper
Wash the beans and remove any bad ones. Parboil the beans on low for half an hour.
Put the beans and remaining ingredients in a crock pot and cover with water. Cook until tender (4-8 hours).
Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
