    • Have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel)
    • Must be a college or university graduate and/or be enrolled in a health related graduate studies program

    Job Description:

    The community development coordinator’s responsibility is to grow and develop Komen Lexington’s Ties that Bind/Lazos que Perduran program, designed to increase breast cancer awareness in the Latino and Spanish-speaking communities in 13 target counties in Kentucky, and to increase the likelihood that communities of color will benefit from the resources available from Susan G. Komen.

    The community development coordinator will work independently to build breast cancer awareness in the Latino community by networking, locating outreach sites, planning and attending events, and always implementing the program with culturally effective ideas.

    The community development coordinator will also assist the mission director with outreach and fundraising in the area of underserved population and communities of color, specifically focusing on Ties that Bind and Colors of Promise (Komen Lexington’s African American outreach program).

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Work continuously to create lasting relationships with local nonprofits specializing in Hispanic/Latino outreach.
    • Organize, schedule, host and/or attend coalition and networking events to support outreach programs (Ties that Bind/Lazos que Perduran, Colors of Promise, general Komen education)
    • Support both groups and one-on-one education (lectures, workshops, seminars)
    • Create and/or attend health and educational events (health fairs,etc.)
    • Maintain contact with all outreach sites and committee members
    • Create culturally aware educational material; aide in development and dissemination of educational material
    • Collect and input data for review report
    • Attend required training seminars, webinars and workshops hosted either locally or at Komen Headquarters
    • Provide assistance with grant research and writing for continuation of outreach programs
    • Increase the numbers of non-government organizations (NGO’s) that serve Hispanic/Latin American community residents who know about and apply for Susan G. Komen Lexington grant funds
