Inspired by breast cancer survivors who relied on their Zumba® classes for physical and emotional support during their fight against the disease, Zumba Fitness launched Party in Pink™ in 2010. Zumba's Party in Pink offered the perfect opportunity for licensed Zumba Instructors to raise funds and awareness to help end breast cancer by hosting a Zumbathon®, a Zumba class for a cause, benefitting Susan G. Komen®. Since the inception of the program, Zumba has raised more than $3 million through more than 1,500 Party in Pink™ Zumbathon® events hosted around the globe each year. This year, Susan G. Komen® is proud to announce the extension of an already stellar partnership with Zumba Fitness. From July 15, 2013 to October 31, 2015, Zumba Fitness will fund a 3-Year, $3 million dollar Susan G. Komen® Promise Grant through their Party in Pink™ campaign by asking supporters, survivors, and Zumba enthusiasts to Party, Prevent, and Prevail against breast cancer.
In connection with the Party in Pink 2013-2015 program, Zumba Fitness is guaranteeing a minimum donation of $3,000,000.00 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. From July 15 – October 31 of each year of the program, Zumba Fitness will donate to Komen 75% of each Zumbathon Party in Pink Ticket Fee collected for Zumbathon events held by licensed Zumba instructors (67% in the event the ticket fee is sent to Zumba via PayPal), at least 20% of each Zumbathon Ticket Fee collected for Zumbathon corporate charity events, 100% of all individual donations received, and 30% of the retail sales price of Party in Pink Zumba wear. 100% of the guaranteed minimum donation of $3,000,000.00 received by Komen in connection with this program shall be applied directly to the Zumba Global Research Grant for Breast Cancer Prevention.
The Zumba Global Research Grant for Breast Cancer Prevention is focused on evaluating SDG, a component of flaxseeds, for the prevention of breast cancer. Evidence shows that SDG blocks the estrogen receptors on cells within breast tissue, starving them of full-strength estrogen, preventing cell damage and possibly stopping tumor growth. This outcome would be most effective in younger, premenopausal women and is particularly exciting for areas across the globe where women are less likely to have access to state-of-the-art screening and treatment facilitiesFor more information on this Promise Grant and to attend a Party in Pink™ Zumbathon charity event, visit PartyinPink.comDid you know that regular exercise reduces your risk of developing breast cancer?
