Komen for the Cure began its partnership with Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) fraternity, in partnership with the ZTA Foundation, in 1992. As a Sponsor of the National Series Breast Cancer Survivor Recognition Program at Komen Race for the Cure® events, ZTA members nationwide volunteer countless hours in support of local Race events.
ZTA, celebrates breast cancer survivors by providing the signature pink t-shirts and caps for survivors to wear during the Race. Race participants receive “In Memory of” and “In Celebration of” back signs to honor a friend or loved one.
Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation has funded a variety of programs associated with the breast cancer movement. Zetas have distributed more than 9.8 million waterproof Breast Self Examination Cards, 8 million Educational flyers and 6 million THINK-PINK!® ribbons and information cards in order to promote breast cancer education in numerous local communities.
In 2003, the ZTA Foundation registered the trademark THINK-PINK!® for the purpose of educational services, breast cancer awareness and self-examination instruction. Registering the trademark ensures that ZTA can continue to enhance community awareness with a more concentrated and recognizable campaign and focus. |
