Susan G. Komen for the Cure is delighted to continue its partnership with The Mohawk Group, a leading manufacturer of commercial carpets. The Mohawk Group launched its Specify for the Cure initiative in 2001, raising more than $3.7 million for Komen for the Cure since the program’s inception.
In support of Komen's promise, The Mohawk Group donates between $.05 and $.25 per square yard unit of the carpets involved in the Specify for a Cure program. These carpets are specified, registered and sold with a minimum guaranteed donation of $150,000.00, and encompass commercial carpet from the following brands: Karastan, Lees, Bigelow, and Durkan.
In addition to Specify for a Cure, in 2011, Mohawk Flooring, another division of The Mohawk Group, began Decorate for the Cure®. This is an initiative aimed at raising more money for breast cancer research to help find the cures. The flooring manufacturer now donates a minimum of 2 cents per yard of its premium carpet underlay, namely Mohawk SmartCushion and its sister brand, Karastan’s KaraStep Reserve cushion, to Susan G. Komen. As part of the Decorate for the Cure program, Mohawk is committed to a minimum guaranteed donation of $200,000 from January 2013-December 2014.
