New breast cancer drugs promising, Komen Chief Scientific Advisor “encouraged”

DALLAS - June 3, 2009 -
Results from early studies involving drugs that show promise as treatments for some of the most aggressive and hard-to-treat forms of breast cancer have leading researchers “extraordinarily encouraged” and anxious to expand clinical trials as early as this summer.

"While still very preliminary, these are some of the most exciting results we have seen in a long time," said Eric Winer, M.D., chief scientific advisor for Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
