Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer

The annual Honorary Bat Girl contest will take place from March 6 – April 12, 2017. The contest, which launched in 2009, will identify one fan per MLB Club who has a personal connection to the disease and has demonstrated a commitment to battling cancer. Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer helps raise awareness about breast cancer and recognizes survivors, co-survivors and those who have made a difference in the fight to end this disease. One person will be chosen for each MLB team and announced the week of April 24, 2017. Learn more and view the winners at honorarybatgirl.com.

Louisville Slugger has produced and donated pink bats that hundreds of players use during Mother’s Day celebrations. Additionally, Rawlings has produced special-edition pink ribbon baseballs that will be for sale nationwide. Fans may purchase the bats and baseballs online at mlbshop.com and at ballparks across the country. From January 1 - December 31, 2017, $10 from the sale of each pink bat and $1 from each baseball will be donated to Major League Baseball Charities, Inc. in support of the fight against breast cancer. MLB Charities will in turn donate 50 percent of the funds raised to Komen. Additionally, MLB will donate 50 percent of its earned royalties on the sales of specially-designed pink-infused Majestic jerseys and New Era caps to Komen.
