BI-LO and Winn-Dixie Customers Raise More than $450,000 to Help Fight Breast Cancer

BI-LO and Winn-Dixie Stores Held Donation Program benefiting Susan G. Komen®

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Nov. 12, 2013) – Customers of BI-LO and Winn-Dixie raised more than $450,000 for Susan G. Komen® during a month-long campaign. The grocer’s Community Donation Program ran in all BI-LO and Winn-Dixie stores from Sept. 18 - Oct. 22, where customers could donate at any store register.

The funds will be distributed to 17 Komen affiliates and used in local communities in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Komen Affiliates provide education, screening, and financial and social support to those facing breast cancer in their communities as well as funding for cancer research.

“This program demonstrates what community really means – people coming together to help their friends and neighbors in need,” said Mary Kellmanson, senior vice president of marketing at BI-LO Holdings. “This partnership with Komen helped educate and raise awareness about this disease and gave our customers a way of supporting the families in our communities that are battling breast cancer.”
