How do I find out if I am in a participating Affiliate area?Go to the Affiliates section of this website and enter your zip code. If you are located in an Affiliate service area, an address and phone number will appear.Is Susan G. Komen a nonprofit?Susan G. Komen is a Texas nonprofit corporation. Komen is a public charity exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our Federal Employer Tax ID number is 75-1835298.I am a survivor, will you consider me/my child for a scholarship?At this time the only college scholarship or education assistance program available through Susan G. Komen was designed to serve students under the age of 25 who have lost a parent to breast cancer. The program was established by a generous donor with the specific interests of high school-age students in mind. The program helps to ensure that the higher education dreams of qualified undergraduate students (age 18 to 25) are not derailed despite the loss of a parent to breast cancer.I have submitted my application - what next?All applications will be reviewed at Headquarters starting November 2nd. You will receive notice if any part of your application is missing. You will have one week to submit any missing materials. It is important for you to carefully review your application before mailing it in. Applications will not be accepted via fax or email. On November 15, complete applications will be sent to their respective Affiliates for review. You should expect to be contacted for an interview sometime between November 15th and January 10th.I do not live in an Affiliate service area or my Affiliate is not participating - is there a way that I can still apply for the scholarship?Our Affiliates play a very important role in reviewing applications and nominating those who will compete at the national level. For that reason, if you live outside of a participating Affiliate area your application cannot be considered. Please contact the financial aid office of your prospective school for information on local scholarships or ask a reference librarian for additional help finding resources.What do you mean by: "student must plan to attend a state supported school"?The Komen College Scholarship is intended for use at state colleges and universities as well as community colleges in the recipient's state of residence. The scholarship cannot be used at private schools or out-of-state tuition.

Komen where no goods or services were received are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.What do donors receive for their gifts?In addition to knowing that you have joined in the fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment, you will receive our national newsletter, which includes updates about the latest research on breast cancer prevention and treatment; periodic mailings about breast health and breast cancer; and access to our National Toll-Free Breast Care Helpline for your questions about breast health and breast cancer, including certified mammography facilities in your community.
