In October 2010 Susan G. Komen for the Cure® partnered with the City of Jerusalem, Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, health advocates and scientists for a week of events in Israel to examine major scientific issues in breast cancer while advancing the international breast cancer movement. The leading breast cancer organizations of Europe and Canada as well as long-term Komen for the Cure partners joined in generating participation for this historic trip.

Our Founder, Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker and Komen advocate, Hadassah Lieberman, traveled to Israel October 27-30 for a series of meetings with government officials, grantees, NGOs, partners, advocates and survivors to review Susan G. Komen for the Cure-funded work in Israel and to begin plans for future events highlighting breast cancer, tobacco control and health diplomacy. To date, we have granted more than $2 million in Israel for breast cancer research and outreach programs. Our visit to Israel is part of the organization’s extensive global efforts to share knowledge and resources to end breast cancer around the world.Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, founder of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and Komen advocate, Hadassah Lieberman, meet with the Mayor of Jerusalem to discuss Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s existing work in Israel, as well as plans for future events highlighting breast cancer, tobacco control and health diplomacy.

Life’s Door is a holistic center for cancer patients, providing services such as support group sessions and art and music therapy. (Oct. 29, 2009)
