 Susan G. Komen® and Major League Baseball are once again Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer! The fifth annual Honorary Bat Girl contest is under way, encouraging fans to share “Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer” stories for a chance to be honored on-field during Mother’s Day celebrations around MLB. Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer will help raise awareness about breast cancer while also raising funds for Komen. The nomination site is open now through April 22, 2013. One person will be chosen for each MLB team and announced the week of May 6, 2013. Learn more at www.honorarybatgirl.com Louisville Slugger has produced and donated pink bats that hundreds of players will also be using on that day and that fans may purchase. The bats, along with specially designed Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer merchandise, are available for purchase online at the mlb.com shop and at ballparks nationwide. From March 26- December 31, MLB will donate to Susan G. Komen $5 per pink bat, $0.50 per ball, and $0.50 per Phiten Necklace sold in support of the fight against breast cancer. |
