As Komen's Latin Ambassador, Soraya spent the last years of her life using her music, her voice and her talent raising awareness and educating women about breast cancer. A Grammy-winning pop star in Latin America and Europe, Soraya was born in Colombia and raised in the United States and in 2006, at the age of 37, Soraya tragically died of breast cancer.
In the final months of her life, Soraya composed her autobiography, Soraya: A Life of Music, a Legacy of Hope. This memoir is about Soraya's life and how she chose to live it while facing breast cancer. Throughout the book, Soraya and those who knew her best, share personal stories about her childhood, her family experience with breast cancer, her musical career and her work on behalf of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Included with the book is a music video and a series of videos on coping with illness, surviving and thriving.
As was Soraya's wish, 80 percent of royalties due to her estate will be donated to Komen for the Cure. Please visit www.soraya.com for more information.
