Just 2 years ago, when I was only 15, my mother was diagnosed with stage 1 Breast cancer. My mother rarely, if ever, went to get mammograms, but just prior to her diagnosis, her friends urged her to, just as a routine measure. My mother was shocked when she found out her diagnosis, she had absolutely no idea that anything would even come up. My mothers guardian angel protected her from the moment she was diagnosed, to the moment she was declared cancer free. I pray to God and thank him that her cancer was early detected, and a surgery and some radiation treatment was all she needed to get well again. If I had to give advice to anyone in my position (God forbid) I would say to stay hopeful, which is obviously easier said than done. But I promise you that God works in mysterious ways, and what may seem like a curse may turn out to be a blessing. urge your loved ones to self examine and get annual mammograms, these are the things that saved my mothers life. Also, understand what your loved one is going through and support them no matter what. When my mother was put on her medication, she hated the way it made her look and feel and often took her frustration out on the family. having to hold my tongue as a stubborn teenager was the hardest thing to do, but I knew that I didn’t have it even half as bad as her, the only cure to cancer we have as of right now is faith. I’m blessed to be able to cuddle up next to my mom every night and remind her how much I love her, and I am proud everyday to say that she is a survivor. “If you’re going through hell, keep going” -Winston Churchill
