    Nira Ben-Jonathan, Ph.D

    Principal Investigator Bio:
    Dr. Nira Ben-Jonathan is professor of Cell and Cancer Biology at the University of Cincinnati. She obtained her B.Sc at Tel Aviv University, Israel, and Ph.D at the University of Illinois. After training as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Texas, Dallas, she joined the faculty of Physiology at Indiana University, Indianapolis, in 1975, becoming full professor in 1983. She moved to Cincinnati in 1992. Dr. Nira Ben-Jonathan has 30 years of experience in the prolactin field with a focus on breast cancer and adiposity. She has published over 140 research articles, reviews and book chapters and has been invited to present her research findings in many national and international meetings. Dr. Ben-Jonathan lists several awards and recognitions, including Research Career Development Award from the NIH, fellow of the AAAS and the University of Cincinnati Rieveschl Award for Distinguished Scientific Research. She previously chaired the NIH Endocrinology Study Section, the Gordon Research Conference on Prolactin, and the NIDDK-B Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Study Section. For the last 8 years she also served on the DOD breast Cancer Endocrinology Review Panel. Throughout her career, she supervised over 40 predoctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows, research assistant professors and visiting scientists.
